The field is officially set for the sixth annual Women’s Basketball Invitational. The 16-team event features a strong field with 12 different conferences represented in the 2015 field.
Games will start in the West Region on Wednesday, Mar. 18. No. 1 see New Mexico will host No. 8 seed North Dakota at 7 pm in Albuquerque, NM. Also on Wednesday, the West’s No. 4 seed Texas State will host No. 5 seed Oral Roberts at 7 pm in San Marcos, TX.
The other two West Region games will be held at 7 pm on Thursday, Mar. 19. No. 2 seed Louisiana Lafayette will face No. 7 seed UT Pan American in Lafayette, LA while No. 6 seed McNeese State will welcome Furman, the No. 3 seed. That game will take place in Lake Charles, LA.
All four East Region games will take place on Thursday, Mar. 19 with game times all scheduled for 7 pm locally. Highland Heights, KY will host a first round WBI game as Northern Kentucky earned the No. 1 seed and will host No. 8 seed Marshall. In the No. 4/5 game Mercer will host the 5th seed Troy in Macon, GA.
Xavier earned the East Region’s No. 2 seed and will host No. 7 William & Mary in Cincinnati. The final first round game will feature No. 3 team Siena hosting No. 6 seed Stony Brook on the Siena campus in Loudonville, NY.
The eight winning teams will advance to the weekend as the WBI second round games are set for Saturday or Sunday, Mar. 21 or 22. The WBI semifinals will be held March 25 or 26 with the title game sent for March 28 or 29. All WBI games are hosted by the highest remaining seed unless circumstances dictate otherwise.
